I lead an absolutely incredible team of people. No staff anywhere is more committed to Jesus and His Church than here. I love them! My major roles are to pray, preach, teach, cast vision, concentrate on strategies to reach lost people and shepherd the people God has put in our care. I was born for this! While I do other things these are major.

Read, mess with technology (especially anything Apple), explore unique places, spend time with the 3-J’s, Janet, my wife and partner, and our two Shih Tzus, JaBar (named for Janet and Barry), and Journee, and some golf when I am courageous or my friends are.

Rev. Kim Cannon

Assistant Pastor for Worship and Music

What do you do at DUMC?
It is my extreme privilege to lead worship at DUMC. This involves music and creative element selection. In other words, I’m always looking for a song or an idea that will connect our attendees to God and each other. I also have the privilege of pastoring the music team and mentoring their growth. I am so blessed with the folks that God has brought to our worship family.

What do you do when you're NOT at DUMC?
It seems like I have ridden motorcycles all of my life. I take an annual trip to the Smokies where I spend several days riding with good friends. I try to work out 5-6 days of the week with strength training, biking, and tennis. Hope to do a ‘tri’ in 2011.

What music do you listen to?
Everything. My collection has everything from Bach to rock. I love audio books and sermons on my iPhone.

What books are on your shelves at home?
Oddly enough, I have very few books on the shelves at home. Now if you want to talk about the office, then I have a lot of books on the shelves. Jean says that I have way too many. Sparkling Gems from the Greek was the best read this last year. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a devotional.

What are your favorite movies or T.V. shows?
I’m a sports addict. I watch it all and fortunate for me, Jean loves sports as well. I will watch motorcycle racing for hours. If you want to have a blast, join us some Saturday when Auburn is playing football. You will see a side of Jean that will rock your socks.

What is your favorite food or drink?
Hmmm…I’m really all over the map on this as well. Love Mexican and Sushi. Rib eye is my first choice for meat…but not very often since I looked at the cholesterol content. Fruit protein smoothies every morning after the workout. Chips and salsa would be my downfall and I’ve never met a cookie that I didn’t like. I don’t like beets, brussel sprouts, cottage cheese, or cauliflower.

Bud Weaver - Church Operating Officer

Bud Weaver

Church Operating Officer

Bud, and his wife Linda, moved to Destin from Dallas, Texas in 2011, but Bud is quick to tell you that he is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, and is a dyed-in-the-wool STEELER fan.

Bud is blessed with a blended family of 7 children, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. After moving to Destin, Bud immediately began volunteering at the church, and had actually made this his "home" church, even before moving here full time. He knew he loved what DUMC offered, the first time he visited, so it was an easy decision for him to come on board full time.

When Bud is ready to unwind, you'll find him sitting on the beach, with a good book, or playing a round of golf, or spending time with good friends. His other favorite things to do is watch STEELER football, or Pittsburgh Penguin hockey. Did we mention, HE'S A REAL PITTSBURGH FAN???
